🌮 Sombreros, PRs, and Pure Speed: Dublin Distance Fiesta 2026 Recap
The “PR Capital of the World” lived up to its name on March 20th and 21st. Dublin High School transformed into a track and field festival as thousands of athletes, coaches, and fans gathered for the 2026 Dublin Distance Fiesta. With 2,981 PRs set last year, the 2026 edition pushed the boundaries even further under the lights and through the legendary Saturday “Sombrero Sessions.”
 The Race for the Sombrero
At the Fiesta, winning your heat doesn’t just mean a gold medal—it means walking away with the most coveted trophy in high school track: the DDF Sombrero. From the morning “Open” sessions to the elite night heats, the sight of athletes celebrating in their oversized headwear was the weekend’s defining image.

âš¡ Friday Night Lights: Relay Royalty
Friday evening set the tone with blistering relay performances. The Campolindo Boys’ 4x800m squad stole the show, clocking a 7:50.20. Not only did they shatter the school record, but they also stamped their name on the national leaderboards with the #3 time in the U.S. so far this season.
-
Standout Split: Caden Ehrhorn’s 1:53.9 anchor leg brought the stadium to its feet.
-
Girls DMR: Our local stars also shined in the Distance Medley Relay, taking 2nd place with a gritty 12:22.26.

📈 PRs Across the Board
While the elite heats grabbed the headlines, the magic of the Fiesta is in the depth. Saturday saw an incredible volume of personal bests:
-
Alijah Murillo (8th overall) and Clark Gregory both dipped into the 9:14 range in a stacked 3200m field.
-
Nikola Van Delft epitomized the “PR Capital” spirit, dropping a massive 34 seconds off his previous best in the 8-lap event.
🌯 Community Spirit
A huge thank you to our incredible local partners like Johnny’s Donuts, Chubby Cattle, and StretchLab San Ramon for keeping the athletes fueled and recovered. The atmosphere was fueled by music, the scent of tacos, and the relentless cheering of the “Dublin Gaels” home crowd.
